Brellan Furniture
As a UX design student, I have worked on several projects that showcase my skills in user research, wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing.
One such project was a mobile app for a fictitious furniture store that aimed to enhance the overall customer experience. I conducted user research to identify pain points and designed wireframes based on the findings.

Goals of the Interface
-
Browse all products that the store has to offer.
-
Add items to a user’s cart.
-
Checkout and purchase products to have them shipped to a user’s address.
-
Favorite products a user likes and wants to come back to view later.
-
View and leave reviews for any product listed on the application.
-
Easily access the home page of the application from whichever page a user is already on.
-
Find products by searching for them in the search bar.
Determining Characteristics of the Target Population
The people who are most likely to use this interface are those looking to purchase new furniture. They can encompass a wide demographic, with the only limiting factor being age. Children are less likely to use this interface as they do not own their own homes or have the means to purchase new furniture. However, some teenagers may use the interface to browse if they have an interest in interior design.
Task Analysis
-
From the home page, the user will select a product they would like to purchase.
-
Once the user is on the specific product’s page, they will select the button marked ‘add to cart’.
-
The user will then be taken to a page that displays all items they have in their shopping cart.
-
From the cart page, the user selects a button marked ‘checkout’ and is taken to the checkout page.
-
In the checkout page, the user will enter all of their information required to checkout. Once they click the button marked ‘pay now’, a popup page will show confirming that their purchase was processed successfully.

A problem scenario related to the task analysis was created to preemptively address any potential design flaws.
When trying to purchase an item via the user interface is the presence of an error message in the checkout section of the application if a user enters their information incorrectly in one of the fill-in information boxes (i.e. address). In order to not most effectively alert the user to the error, the interface needs to indicate which fill-in information box the error occurred in and properly convey that information to the user. For example, if the email does not follow proper email address format, the following error message should say something such as, “please re-enter a valid email address”:

After the processes and creation of wireframes depicted above, a final product was created using Adobe XD.
